FAQs
Do indoor arenas have special footing or surfaces?
Yes, most indoor arenas use specially designed footing that provides traction and cushioning without being too deep or dusty. These surfaces, such as treadlite or synthetic blends, are chosen to reduce strain on horses’ joints and improve performance. Quality footing also supports better balance and reduces the risk of slipping, making it safer and more comfortable for both horse and rider. Always check what surface is used when hiring an arena.
Can I use lights during evening arena hire?
Many indoor arenas are equipped with overhead lighting to allow for riding in low light or evening hours. This makes it easier for riders with busy schedules to train after work or during winter months when daylight is limited. It’s important to confirm whether lighting is included in your hire fee and whether there are any time restrictions for night use. Lighting improves visibility and safety during later sessions.
Can I bring my own instructor to an indoor arena hire?
In most cases, yes—you can bring your own instructor to a private arena hire, but it usually requires approval from the facility and may involve an additional fee. This ensures that any instructors using the venue are insured and comply with safety guidelines. Always check with the arena provider for any specific rules or conditions regarding external coaches. It’s a great option for riders wanting tailored lessons in a private space.
